In Batavialand, collections are managed and historical research is carried out at the Cornelis Lely Centre. The Maritime Depot with the maritime archaeological collection of the Dutch State is located at Batavialand, along with the Provincial Depot for Archaeological Finds of Flevoland and the library, archives and museum pieces from Flevoland and the Zuiderzee project.
Batavialand researchers care deeply about the history of Flevoland, the Zuiderzee project and the Dutch tradition of reclamation and land use. Historical research is carried out to keep the public as well informed as possible about the country’s past. The sources and results of the research are visible throughout Batavialand, at the shipyard and in the museum. Visitors can study and research at the Study Centre located in the museum.
