Join a special afternoon excursion from Museum Batavialand to the Field School of Ship Archaeology in Zeewolde. Together with our experts, discover the story of the early 16th-century water ship ZO31 – a fishing vessel with an ingenious water compartment for live fish. This is the last year of research on this shipwreck. Don’t miss this unique opportunity!

- 1 p.m. – Walk-in at the Taveerne of Museum Batavialand, Lelystad
Reception with coffee/tea and something sweet. - 1:30 p.m. – Start of program
Introduction on the reconstruction of the watercraft ZM22, archaeological research and shipbuilding. - Bus tour with live explanation
Along shipwrecks in the Flevoland landscape, en route to Zeewolde. - Visit to the excavation in Zeewolde
Tour of the site of wreck ZO31 by students of the Field School of Marine Archaeology Flevoland. - 5:30 p.m. – Back in Lelystad
Cost and reservation
- €55 per person

About the Field School
The Flevoland Ship Archaeology Field School is a collaboration between the Cultural Heritage Agency (RCE) and Museum Batavialand. Students gain practical experience in reconstructing historical ships as well as at real excavation sites.

- Suitable for ages 12 and up
- Excavation site: Zeewolde, intersection Slingerweg with Schillinkweg
Parking along access road in Hulkesteinse Bos - Weather conditions: In case of rain, bring boots. The venue is not accessible to the physically challenged in inclement weather.
