Study Center Museum Batavialand

The Study Center of Museum Batavialand provides access to a unique collection of archives, books, maps and newspapers about the Zuiderzee/IJsselmeer region and Flevoland. The collections, collected by the Zuiderzee Association (1886-1949) and the Foundation for Population Research in the drained Zuiderzee polders (1936-present), among others, predate the reclamation and are still growing thanks to historical and archaeological research.

Online and accessible

Many of the collections are available digitally via CollectieNederland.nl and Zuiderzeecollectie.nl. Here you will find not only archaeological finds, but also archives, library documents, maps and audiovisual collections. The Study Center is constantly expanding its digital accessibility, so that more and more documents become available online.

Visits by appointment

The Study Center is open by appointment, preferably on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Researchers and interested parties can consult archives and collections by making an appointment at studiecentrum@batavialand.nl or by calling 0320 – 22 59 79.
