The ship Batavia

Step aboard the Batavia, a stunning reconstruction of a 17th-century VOC ship. Feel the wooden planks beneath your feet, hear the creaking of the hull, and be transported to an era of adventure and craftsmanship. Every detail, from the rigging to the cannons, tells a story of life at sea.

The Exhibition Hall

In our exhibition space, take a journey through Flevoland’s history, from the prehistoric Swifterbant culture to modern reclamation. Admire unique finds, such as an 18th-century shipwreck, and enjoy exhibits such as the 60-meter Flevo wall and the Water Theater.

The shipyard

Experience craftsmanship in action at our shipyard. Visit the forge, the carving workshop, and the sailmaker’s loft, where artisans work with 17th-century techniques. Using these traditional methods, they are rebuilding a 16th-century watership.
