Crafts of the past, mastery of the present

The shipyard of Museum Batavialand is bustling with activity. Refined wood carvings are created in the sculpture workshop, while the most beautiful miniatures are created in model making. In the forge, ship nails and metal parts are made with fire and craftsmanship. The rigging shop and sail-making shop provide authentic rigging and sails, fueled by materials from the weaving shop. Here you experience craftsmanship in its purest form!

The Seven Provinces Hall

Here shines the scale model of the famous warship The Seven Provinces. This 1:10 scale masterpiece shows just how grand and imposing the original ship was. Down to the smallest details, from the galley to the cannons, it offers an impressive look at 17th-century shipbuilding. Plus, life-size carvings of the ship hang on the wall!

The Watership: Help build history

Stand eye to eye with an iconic fishing ship from the 16th century! At Museum Batavialand, a water ship is being reconstructed using traditional techniques. From a walkway, watch as volunteers and craftsmen, guided by experienced teachers, bring this historic ship to life.
