Medieval ship headed for new future

After ten years of conservation, the IJsselkogge will leave Museum Batavialand in January 2026. The 15th-century trading ship was spectacularly salvaged in 2016 and carefully treated at our conservation station. Now the ship is ready for restoration in Zwartsluis and will later be given a permanent place in Museum Kampen.

Last chance to see the finds

For the departure, eleven original objects from the IJsselkogge are temporarily on display at Museum Batavialand. From pilgrims’ insignia to a pewter pendant – each object tells a story from the Middle Ages.

A new beginning for the museum

With the departure of the IJsselkogge, we are making room for the future. On this site we are building a new museum building, which will open at the end of 2028.
