An entire weekend back to the 17th century

On Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 February, Museum Batavialand will transform into a lively scene from the 17th century. Step aboard the impressive ship Batavia and meet the crew: sailors, carpenters and soldiers populate the deck and bring the ship back to life. Will you also step back in time 400 years?

You will meet crew members from the past: ship carpenters, sailors and sea soldiers in period clothing show what life on board was like. They will give demonstrations, answer questions and tell about their journey, work and daily existence at sea. Muskets will also be fired just as they did 400 years ago.

Equipage de Delft

The crew this weekend will be interpreted by Equipage De Delft, which is a society that authentically portrays the lives of the crew of naval ships from the 17th and 18th centuries.
