RUUM is the culture collective for young people in Flevoland. Here everything revolves around art, culture and creativity. RUUM gives young people the space to discover their talent, share new ideas and create projects together that color Flevoland. Whether you are into music, theater, dance, film or visual arts, at RUUM you will find a place to grow, experiment and make culture together.
RUUM originated from a joint desire of three Flevoland museums – Jij bent M. (Almere), Museum Batavialand (Lelystad) and Museum Schokland – to get young people more actively involved in art and culture. From this ambition, a grant application was submitted to the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW), which is helping to make this initiative possible.
With the support of OCW, we are working to create a culture collective that not only lets young people look at art, but actively participate, create and think about what culture means in Flevoland.
The daily organization of RUUM lies with a working group of four people who develop projects and exhibitions together with young people, schools, artists and cultural institutions. In this way we are building a Flevoland where art and culture is increasingly of, for and by young people.

The RUUMclub is RUUM’s youth council: a group of Flevoland youth who think, experience and co-organize. They think up exhibitions, choose themes, collaborate with artists and give direction to what RUUM does. Young people aged 12 to 20 are the voice of young Flevoland.
