Museum Batavialand is all about tools during the autumn vacation! Besides our permanent exhibitions and the reconstruction of the VOC ship Batavia, you can experience extra activities this vacation. Together this vacation you will dive into the stories of the past.
Meet the artisans at our shipyard and discover the tools they use to bring ancient techniques to life. Participate in workshops like planing wood shavings, straightening planks or building your own boat with your family. Every day there is something new to experience! For children, there is a scavenger hunt that will help them look for different tools in the museum. In addition, short stories are told at an old toolbox: do you recognize the modern version of the old tools?
In addition to the special fall vacation activities, as always, you can explore the stories of land and water together. In our exhibition area, you’ll discover how Flevoland emerged from the Zuiderzee, from prehistoric cultures to shipwrecks hidden underwater for centuries. The reconstruction of the Batavia, a 17th-century VOC ship, is also an adventure in itself: on board, you experience what life was like in the Golden Age.
Parking is easy at Batavia Stad Fashion Outlet, within walking distance of the museum, so you can combine your visit with a complete day out.
