Experience summer full of ship stories and adventure!
This summer vacation there is something to do every day at Museum Batavialand. From cooking and crafts to living history aboard the Batavia. All special activities are in addition to our regular offerings: the exhibitions, the ship Batavia and the craft yard. A fun and educational day out for the whole family! Your visit is also easy to combine with a day of shopping in Batavia Stad.
What is there to do?
Crafts in action – weekly
Forging nails, chopping heads, making buttons: each week there is a craft on display!
Living History Weekend – July 19 & 20
On these days you will meet historical figures aboard the Batavia. They will tell you about their life at sea, show you what they did on board and take you back in time.
Cannon Shooting – July 15, Aug. 2 and Aug. 3
Spectacular to witness! On several days, cannon shots will sound on our grounds. Don’t miss this highlight!
Historic Cooking – July 13 & 27, Aug. 10 & 24
See how cooking was done at Wiebe Hayes Square in the 17th century.
Tasting on Board – July 9, 23 & 30
From 1:00-15:00 pm you can taste bread and porridge as it was eaten at sea in the past.
And more to come!
We are still adding to the program. Keep an eye on the website for updates.
