(temporary position through December 2028)
0.8FTE – Lelystad
Museum Batavialand is on the eve of a major renovation. To finance this, a fundraising campaign is underway and companies and major donors are being recruited. The campaign requires sharp direction: a small team of internal employees, together with some external partners, is executing parts of the campaign. Your right hand is a dedicated employee, who is now being recruited simultaneously. Whereas before we were busy making plans and developing strategy, it is now high time to go public with our appealing ambition. What is missing is the connecting force that drives and enthuses, and will roll out the entire campaign over the next two years.
For this role we are looking for an experienced senior project leader with a strong commercial and connecting background – someone who will keep the campaign operationally sharp, develop the fundraising proposition for corporate and private donors, and ensure that together we meet our targets. At the same time, you will lay the foundation for a sustainable development function within Museum Batavialand, ensuring that the relationships and revenue streams built during the renewal continue to be of value to the organization in the long term.
Your place in the organization
You are the link between the director-director, the MT and the Renewal Project Team. As a connecting link, you ensure overview, progress and connection. The employee Recruitment & Relations falls under your daily management. External campaigns you coordinate with the Head of Marketing & Communications, events with the Head of Audiences & Presentations and financially you report to the Head of Finance. You will report directly to the Executive Director.
What is your assignment?
Your assignment has three cores: ensuring that the current fundraising campaign is continued effectively and creating the preconditions so that companies and major donors can be recruited. Finally, you will lay the foundation for a structural development approach that contributes to sustainable income, partnerships and relationship management even after the renewal.
Specifically:
Responsibilities
Fundraising, development & proposition development
- Roll out a compelling fundraising proposition that engages corporations and major donors on the unique value of the Renewal of Museum Batavialand.
- Translate the Renewal Plan into concrete, targeted propositions for corporate sponsors and high net worth individuals.
- Aligning the proposition with the Director-Treasurer and Head of Marketing & Communications.
- Develop and implement personal major donor approach, in conjunction with the director-director.
- Activate existing contacts of the museum and approach new networks and stakeholders.
- Develop a vision of the future development function within Museum Batavialand and translate it into a workable approach for the period after renewal.
- Establish and strengthen processes for relationship management, stewardship and donor development.
- To contribute to the building of a sustainable network of companies, funds, ambassadors and private donors that will remain actively involved with Museum Batavialand even after the completion of the campaign.
Campaign direction & external cooperation
- Monitor the progress of the ongoing fundraising campaign and manage external partners who implement parts of the campaign.
- Ensure clear agreements, reports and deadlines with all external and internal stakeholders.
- Identify bottlenecks and opportunities and proactively adjust accordingly.
Managing employee recruitment & relations
- Daily management of the Recruitment & Relations employee: setting priorities, conducting work meetings and monitoring progress.
- Ensure operational campaign execution (relationship management, CRM, lead tracking) is and remains in place.
Results & reporting
- Monthly reporting to the chief executive officer on progress, results and projections.
- Prepare and Monitor revenue projections and campaign budget.
- First point of contact at MT level on the status of the Renewal Campaign.
- Deliver a supported development direction for the future Recruitment & Relations Department.
Who are you?
You are an entrepreneurial, connecting professional with a keen eye for opportunities and an innate feel for people. You combine project management discipline with commercial drive and know how to quickly create overview and achieve results in a dynamic, mission-driven organization.
- Proven senior project manager with demonstrated experience leading complex projects within tight schedule and modest budget.
- Strong background in sales, sponsorship and/or fundraising – you know how to build a compelling proposition and open doors with corporations and high net worth individuals.
- Strategic thinker who translates data and insights into clear plans, forecasts and priorities.
- Budgeting skills: you can prepare revenue projections and report clearly to the director-director.
- Collaborative connector: you switch effortlessly between internal departments and external partners and keep all lines of communication tight without slipping into bureaucracy.
- Decisive and results-oriented: you know quickly what needs to be done, communicate it clearly, and make it happen.
