All-round public volunteer

As an all-round public volunteer, you are an important part of the public reception team at Museum Batavialand. The day team handles all aspects of public reception, from selling tickets and products to providing information to visitors. This takes place at various locations, including the museum, the shipyard, the jetty and the ship Batavia. During the day, all-round public volunteers and guides change places, so your day at Museum Batavialand is always varied and you work with different people.

Volunteer speaking: I really enjoy the sociability among volunteers and interactive meetings with visitors.

role and department

As an all-round public volunteer, you will be employed in both public reception and storytelling. You will combine welcoming visitors, scanning tickets, giving explanations and telling short stories.

What do we expect from you?

  • Deployment: once or twice every 4 weeks for a weekend day and/or once a week during the week. Working hours are from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm.
  • Hospitality: You know better than anyone else how to make guests feel welcome and bring the story of Museum Batavialand to life.
  • Attitude: You have a spontaneous and welcoming attitude.
  • Teamwork: You can work independently as well as in a team.
  • Language Skills: speaking English and/or German is a plus but not required.
  • Flexibility: You are employable for both the yard and the museum and enjoy working broadly within the organization.
