All-round public volunteer

As an all-around visitor services volunteer, you play an important role in welcoming visitors at Museum Batavialand. The day shift handles all aspects of visitor services, from selling tickets and merchandise to providing information to visitors. This takes place at various locations, such as inside the museum, at the shipyard, on the pier, and aboard the Batavia. Throughout the day, all-around visitor service volunteers and guides rotate between different stations, so your day at Museum Batavialand is always varied and you get to work with different people.

A volunteer shares: I really enjoy the camaraderie among volunteers and the interactive encounters with visitors.

Role and department

As an all-round public volunteer, you will be employed in both public reception and storytelling. You will combine welcoming visitors, scanning tickets, giving explanations and telling short stories.

What do we expect from you?

  • Schedule: 1 to 2 weekend days every 4 weeks and/or 1 weekday per week. Working hours are from 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Hospitality: You know better than anyone how to make guests feel welcome and bring the story of Museum Batavialand to life.
  • Attitude: You have a spontaneous and hospitable attitude.
  • Teamwork: You can work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Language skills: Speaking English and/or German is a plus, but not required.
  • Flexibility: You’re available to work at both the shipyard and the museum and enjoy taking on a wide range of responsibilities within the organization.
