Freewill weaving

In the weaving shop, cloth for the Waterschip’s sails is made and fabrics for items in the store. In the future we would also like to make reconstructions of the archaeological finds of Museum Batavialand. This is new and we are setting up together.

Volunteer speaking: ”We weave on old-fashioned looms. visitors may also try a piece of weaving such a loom.”

Department and role

The weaving shop was recently established and has a location on the first floor. The inspired team invites you to learn the craft of weaving. Here you will learn warp making, threading and the weaving skill itself. You will introduce visitors to weaving on a loom and give demonstrations and workshops during vacation programs.

What do we expect from you?

  • You are enthusiastic and want to give visitors and yourself a good time at Museum Batavialand.
  • Weaving requires team spirit, commitment and willingness to learn and an affinity for textiles/crafts.
  • Would you like to learn the craft of weaving? Tryouts are possible one day a week and are always by mutual agreement.
  • We prefer to see you one day a week. Frequency familiarisation period in consultation with learning master.
