Museum Batavialand is the museum of Flevoland’s history and maritime archaeology. Pioneers and adventurers have lived and worked here for thousands of years. Hunters and gatherers of prehistoric Doggerland, medieval knights, navigators of the Zuiderzee, pioneers of the largest multidisciplinary polder in the world, and Willem Vos who recreated a unique project The Batavia; all left traces in Flevoland.
To keep the day at Museum Batavialand running smoothly so that every visitor has an enjoyable day, we are immediately looking for a:
Host/Hostess (volunteer)
Are you hospitable, enthusiastic and have a passion for history and culture? Museum Batavialand is looking for an enthusiastic host/hostess to join the team and offer visitors an unforgettable experience. In this unpaid position you are the face of the museum and play an important role in welcoming and guiding our visitors.
What will you do?
- Receive and welcome visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
- Guide visitors to appropriate exhibits and provide information about the collection and history of the region.
- Ensure a pleasant and safe atmosphere in the museum and on the outside grounds.
- Answering visitors’ questions about the exhibitions, the museum and its facilities.
- Assist in the organization of events and special programs.
- Help maintain a clean and orderly environment, both inside and outside.
Who are you?
- You have a friendly and open attitude.
- You have an interest in history, archaeology and the maritime culture of the Netherlands.
- You have good communication skills and can interact well with different types of visitors.
- You have an eye for detail and are proactive.
- You are flexible and willing to work weekends or holidays.
- Experience in a hospitality environment is a plus but not a requirement.
