Our volunteers are the heart of Museum Batavialand. As Volunteer Coordinator, you will ensure that 150 enthusiastic people feel seen, heard and in their place, so that they enjoy bringing the story of Flevoland to life. In the museum, among historic objects and unique shipwrecks and in the lively shipyard, you will work in the middle of history. Because our volunteers play a crucial role in the visitor experience every day, we are looking for someone who can start on short notice.
This is what you will do
As Volunteer Coordinator, you are the first point of contact and confidant for our volunteers: from cashiers and guides to weavers and cannoners. You are visible a lot on the shop floor and know our volunteers by name. You recruit new volunteers, ensure a warm welcome and help people quickly find their place within the museum. You sense what people need, stimulate their development and contribute to a pleasant and safe working atmosphere.
You keep an overview of the planning and scheduling and switch smoothly when changes occur. You identify bottlenecks in time and solve them together with colleagues. You develop and monitor the volunteer policy and think strategically about how to deploy volunteers sustainably, with pleasure and in line with their talents. You ensure that volunteers are well trained and feel confident in their role towards visitors.
You will be part of the Audience & Presentation team and work closely with the Education Associate and the Audience Staff Team Leader.
This we offer
- Salary in scale 7 according to the Museum collective bargaining agreement;
- 8% vacation pay and a year-end bonus of 3.4%;
- A one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal;
- Good fringe benefits;
- Space to develop your own vision of volunteerism and actually put it into practice;
- An inspiring workplace among historic shipwrecks, archaeological finds and an active shipyard;
- Committed colleagues who work with pride and passion to tell the story of Flevoland to a wide and international audience.
This is what you bring
You have experience managing volunteers and know the importance of attention, clarity and appreciation. You are organizationally strong, have good communication skills and are sensitive to group dynamics. Thanks to your seniority, you are a natural point of contact for volunteers.
Further:
- MBO+/HBO working and thinking level;
- Good communication skills;
- Affinity with culture, heritage or public affairs is a plus.
